ROASTED GARLIC

5 Minute Roasted Garlic

1 or more Head of Garlic
Remove loose paper from outside.
Slice top of head straight across so you expose the cloves, slicing into the cloves a little.
Slice the bottom across so it can stand on a plate freely.
Place on small microwaveable plate.
Traditional Roasted Garlic

Prepare head as in other recipe.
Placing on oven proof plate or pan, cover with oven proof cup
or wraping gently in foil.

(Add other vegetables if desired, cut into same size pieces, and toss in loose garlic cloves., drizzle with oil, s & p, herbs...)
Roast in oven, 375 degrees, around 30 minutes, longer if other vegetables are used.
Drizzle head with olive oil. (A tablespoon or two per head.)
Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper,
and herbs of choice: I like rosemary and thyme.
Cover with upside down Microwaveable cup. (Ceramic coffee cups work great)
Set Microwave on Auto DEFROST, for about 4-5 minutes. Microwaves are all different so check cloves, and "defrost" until cloves are soft like butter.
Will be HOT!

Serve Traditional Roasted Garlic Heads as is, 1 per plate per person
with french bread or toast.
Small spoons work well for
scooping out and spreading on bread.

Other Ideas:
  • Mash and mix with vegan mayonnaise and/or hummus for a great bread spread.
  • Mash and Mix into mashed potatoes or a potato or other vegi based soup
  • Gently knead cloves into dough before baking bread.
  • Place on top of pizza
  • Add to pasta sauce or other sauce.
  • Mix with vinegar and more oil and herbs for a salad dressing
