Homemade Dessert Fillings


Poppy seed filling

  • Blender together:
  • ¾ C poppy seeds
  • ¾ C ground almonds
  • Add:
  • ½ C sugar
  • 1/3 C plain soymilk
  • Place in saucepan with:
  • 3 T vegan margarine
  • 1 t lemon peel
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • Boil until thick, 10 minutes.

Date Filling:

  • Simmmer:
  • ½ # dates
  • in 1 C water
  • When all water evaporated add:
  • ½ C vegan margarine
  • 2 T lemon juice
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1 t vanilla
  • Cook a couple minutes until thick.
  • Process smooth



Rum Apricot filling

  • Cook until softened:
  • ½ # dried apricots
  • 2 C water
  • ½ C water
  • ½ C sugar
  • Remove add
  • 1/2 C C ground almonds
  • 2 T rum
  • Process smooth

Homemade Almond Paste

  • 1 ½ C whole blanched almonds
  • 1 ½ C powdered sugar
  • 1 t almond extract
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 2 t oil
  • processs smooth
