Favorite Homemade Snacks made with cereal
Chex mix original
- Melt 6 T vegan margarine
- add 1 t seasoned salt/or garlic salt
- 4 t vegan Worcestershire sauce
- Pour over 2 C each corn, rice and wheat chex or similar.
- ¾ C nuts
- ¾ C pretzils
- Bake 250 45 minutes
Caramel crunchy Nutty os
- In sauce pan Melt:
- ½ c brown sugar
- ½ c corn syrup
- ¼ c margarine
- ½ t salt
- Stir constantly.
- Remove: Add:
- 6 C cheerios or cheerio like cereal
- 1 C pecans, walnuts, peanuts , almonds or whatever
- Spread on greased jelly roll sheet
- Bake 325 15 min.
- Cool 10. Break up.
Chex Muddy Buddies
- Mix and Melt together: (microwave or stove top)
- 6 oz vegan semi sweet chocolate chips
- ½ C peanut Butter
- ¼ C vegan margarine
- Stir in ½ t vanilla
- Pour over:
- 9 C chex or chex like cereal
- Stir Put into bag and add 1 ½ C powdered sugar
- Shake well to coat.
- Spread out on cookie sheets to dry
Chocolate Party snack Mix
- 9 c Your favorite chex brand cereals or chex like cereal
- 2 c Shredded coconut (optional)
- 1 c Peanuts
- 1 c Packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 c (1 stick) vegan margarine
- 1/2 c Light corn syrup
- 1 ts Vanilla
- 1/2 ts Baking soda
- 12 oz Pkg (2 cup) vegan dark chocolate or semi sweet chips
- 1 1/2 c Raisins
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Combine cereal, coconut and peanuts in large,
- small roasting pan. In small saucepan over medium heat, heat brown sugar,
- margarine and corn syrup to boiling, stirring. Without stirring, boil 5
- minutes. Stir in vanilla and baking soda. Pour over cereal mixture, stir
- until evenly coated. Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool, stirring
- frequently. Stir in chocolate chips and raisins. Store in airtight container.

Tips and ideas:
Semi sweet chocolate chips are supposed to be vegan, but a lot of companies cheapen them by adding milk. Check the labels!
