Vegan Sweetened condensed milk made with canned coconut milk.
- Mix together
- 1 can real / full fat coconut milk
- 1/2 C sugar
- Heat to boiling
- Reduce to simmer for 45 min.
- Thickens as it cools
Vegan Sweetened condensed milk from dry soy powder
- Mix together
- Dry soymilk powder equivalent to making 3 cups milk. (3/4 C Better Then Milk brand powder)
- 3/4 C water
- Heat until boiling point. (Microwave works fine for this)
- In a pan on the stovetop Melt 6 T vegan margarine on medium.
- Add 1 1/2 C sugar
- When the sugar begins to melt
- add hot milk and a dash salt
- Boil gently and stir 5 min.
Tips:
Cool and use wherever sweetened condensed milk is called for.
Some recipes you see use just plant milk (1 C), sugar (1/2 C), cornstarch (1 T), and butter(1 T), dash salt, then heat to thicken, which can work fine in some recipes, but they are basically a sweet pudding, not a condensed milk.
